Katsia Prakopchyk

Katsia Prakopchyk is internationally one of the most distinguished mandolin players of our time.
After completing her first degree in Mandolin/Domra at the Belarusian Music Academy in Minsk, the Belarusian-born musician switched to the Cologne University of Music.
She completed both her artistic instrumental training in the subject Baroque Mandolin/Mandolin with Prof. Marga Wilden-Hüsgen and the concert exam with Prof. Caterina Lichtenberg with distinction.
Katsia Prakopchyk received numerous prizes and awards for her expressive playing and exceptional technical brilliance, including the
1st prize at the International Mandolin Competition "Raffaele Calace" 2000, Italy
1st prize at the "International Music Tournament" 2004, France
1st prize at the "Yasuo Kuwahara Competition for Solo Mandolin" 2005, Germany
1st prize at the "European Mandolin Award" at the EGMA 2007, Greece
She makes regular concert appearances in "DUO LA CORDA" with guitarist Jan Skryhan.

In addition, Katsia Prakopchyk gives concerts as a soloist with the Baroque Orchestra Armonia dell’Arcadia, the Leipzig Baroque Orchestra and as a participant with the Leipzig Opera and the Deutschen Oper am Rhein, the Sächsischen Staatsoper Dresden, the Deutschen Nationaltheater Weimar, the Volkstheater Rostock, the Robert-Schumann-Philharmonie Chemnitz, the Staatskapelle Halle and the Balthasar-Neumann-Ensemble.
Performances at the Kobe International Music Festival and the 11th Internacional Mandolin Festival & Competition in Osaka took her to Japan.
Katsia Prakopchyk is a very dedicated teacher.
She is a lecturer for mandolin at the Kalaidos Music Academy (Zurich) and at the International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein (Düsseldorf).

She works as a teacher in the subject Mandolin at the Music Academy/Music School Basel, Music School Baar.
She is also the conductor of the mandolin orchestra in the "Mandolinenverein Kollnau-Gutach e.V." at present.

She regularly gives master classes and is invited as a jury member to established mandolin and orchestra competitions.

Katsia Prakopchyk was supported by the Hartmut and Lore Schuler Foundation (Germany) and was a participant in the support program of the Sellheim Society and the musical-social initiative Menuhin Live Music Now.
The magazine "Conzertino" named them "Discovery of the Year 2006" together with the guitarist Jan Skryhan "DUO LA CORDA".
She introduced herself to a wide audience with the recording of the following CDs, which were published by Aviso Verlag:
